Program Description
The Gastrointestinal Imaging Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester will prepare you for an academic or subspecialty practice career in gastrointestinal radiology.
This one-year program provides training in all imaging modalities to evaluate the gastrointestinal and other intraperitoneal and extraperitoneal organs. Examples of genitourinary disorders and diseases seen at Mayo Clinic include:
- Constipation
- Diarrhea
- Esophageal Disorders - Corrosive
- Esophageal Disorders - Diverticula
- Esophageal Disorders, including GERD
- Gastritis
- Inflammatory Bowel - Crohn's
- Inflammatory Bowel - U. Colitis
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Malabsorbtion Syndromes
- Peptic Ulcer
- Cancer
The application and interpretation of the following methods will be emphasized during your training:
- Conventional radiology
- Computed tomography
- Ultrasonography
- Magnetic resonance imaging
- Nuclear radiology
- Fluoroscopy
- Interventional methods
Certification
You will be eligible for certification in Diagnostic Radiology from the American Board of Radiology upon completion of the fellowship.
Accreditation
The Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredits the Gastrointestinal Imaging Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester.
Program History
The Gastrointestinal Imaging Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester began in 1980. It is anticipated that each year one to three fellows will complete training in the program.
