The Division of Pulmonary Medicine at Mayo Clinic Arizona provides comprehensive consultative, diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with illnesses that affect the lungs and breathing. It is a referral center for the Southwest.

Physicians provide care for a range of common and rare respiratory conditions including:

  • Lung cancer diagnosis and treatment
  • Chronic obstructive lung diseases, including asthma
  • Interstitial lung diseases
  • Bronchial disorders
  • Pulmonary vascular disease, including pulmonary hypertension
  • Sleep disorders
  • Acute and chronic respiratory failure
  • Vasculitidies of the lung 

The latest technology is used to provide state-of-the-art care in both the outpatient and hospital settings, including the intensive care units. There are active clinical trials for a variety of lung diseases, including emphysema and pulmonary fibrosis.

Faculty
In addition to caring for patients in their clinical practices, Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and contributing to the growth of medical knowledge. Many of our faculty have published and lectured extensively and are highly regarded in their field. You will have direct access to the Pulmonary Medicine faculty at Mayo Clinic Arizona throughout your training.

Advisors and Mentors
You will be assigned a faculty advisor who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Your advisor also will serve as a contact point, introducing you and your family to Scottsdale/Phoenix and the Mayo Clinic system.

Visiting Professors
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during noon and/or morning lectures and participate in hospital rounds. You will be encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
