What attracted you to gastroenterology?
“I had a difficult time settling on gastroenterology, since I enjoyed everything in medical school and residency. The complexity and diversity of the different components of the gastrointestinal system was appealing to me.  Also, I like the mix among clinic, hospital care and procedures that gastroenterology offers.”

What attracted you to Mayo Clinic for fellowship training?
“I was attracted to Mayo Clinic, because of the size of its GI division and the incredible number of experts in the field with whom I would have the opportunity to work.”

What makes the Mayo Clinic Gastroenterology Fellowship unique?
“In addition to the field experts, the core lecture series is one of the best organized and most interesting I have seen.”

Anything surprise you about Mayo's program?
“I was surprised by the great support for research. Also, the allied health staff are extremely efficient and tremendously reduce amount of busy work that can take you away from patient care or research.”

What is living in Rochester like for you?
“I really like Rochester. It's an excellent place to raise a family. It has a very low cost of living and affordable house prices. There is very little crime or traffic congestion.”

What does your future look like right now?
“Very good. I'm looking forward to starting an advanced fellowship in transplant hepatology at Mayo Clinic Rochester in 2010.”
