Qualifications
Positions are filled through the National Resident Matching Program Electronic Residency Application Service (NRMP/ERAS). Qualified applicants must have completed one year of training in internal medicine, surgery or pediatrics, or a transitional year program at Mayo Clinic or in another academic medical setting.

We review all applications submitted to us through ERAS. Applicants who have recently graduated from medical school (last three years) with strong academic performances, continued active participation in clinical patient care since medical school completion, high board scores (greater than 220), and outstanding letters of reference for clinical performance attract our attention.

Residency training or research in subjects pertinent to PM&R increases an applicant's chance of being selected to interview. We receive far more applications from qualified individuals than positions available. Only those applicants selected to interview will be contacted following acknowledgment of receipt of application through ERAS.

We do consider applications from qualified international medical graduates. Such applicants must have achieved certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and passed the National Board of Medical Examiners (NBME) exams at the time of application. We will support a J1 Visa only. All of our residents must have excellent spoken and written English.
