Program Description
The three-year Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program
is designed to prepare physicians for an academic career in pediatric
hematology/oncology. When you successfully complete this program,
you will have the clinical and laboratory skills necessary to obtain
an appointment in an academic institution. The clinical portion
of the program is integrated with laboratory and research areas.
The three years are structured to provide approximately 18 months
of clinical experience and 18 months of research experience.
All fellows do a one month rotation to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville and a one month rotation at the University of Minnesota.
Accreditation
American Board of Pediatrics accredits the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology
Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The fellowship is
open to physicians who have successfully completed an accredited
pediatric residency program.
Certification
Graduates are board-eligible for the pediatric hematology/oncology
subspecialty certification. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship
fulfills the requirements for subspecialty training in pediatric
hematology/oncology prescribed by the American Board of Pediatrics.

The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program began in
1985, and since that time more than 18 fellows have completed training.
It is anticipated that one fellow will complete training in this
program annually.
