Program Description
The three-year Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at
Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., includes both hands-on clinical
training and experience with clinical or basic research. When you
successfully complete this fellowship, you will be well-qualified
to assume a faculty position in academic pediatric gastroenterology
or to practice in a clinical setting.
Graduate Outcomes
The fellowship program is geared toward the training of
successful academic pediatric gastroenterologists. We have shown
a significant track record of attracting and training physicians
that have pursued successful academic careers both nationally and
internationally. Over the last five years program participants,
in collaboration with several colleagues within Mayo Clinic, have
published nearly 150 peer-reviewed publications. Because of the
very wide range of interest within our division and within the institution,
the fellows have been able to pursue a broad variety of academic
interests.
Accreditation
American Board of Pediatrics accredits the Pediatric Gastroenterology
Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. The fellowship is
open to physicians who have successfully completed an accredited
pediatric residency program.
Certification
The Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship fulfills the
requirement for subspecialty training in pediatric gastroenterology
hepatology and nutrition, as prescribed by the American Board of
Pediatrics. Graduates will be board eligible for the pediatric gastroenterology
subspecialty certification.
Program History
The Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship began in 1994,
and, since that time, more than five physicians have completed training.
It is anticipated that one fellow will complete training in this
program annually.
