Program Description
Mayo Clinic in Arizona offers a three-year Female Pelvic Medicine
and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship Program for physicians who
wish to specialize in pelvic floor reconstructive surgery.
This program includes extensive vaginal, radical and laparoscopic
surgery experience. Areas of research interest include vaginal wound
healing, adhesion prevention and materials for the surgical management
of pelvic-organ-prolapse.
Mayo Clinic’s Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive
Surgery Fellowship offers:
- A broad range of pelvic surgery experiences,
including rotations in pelvic reconstructive surgery, radical
pelvic surgery, colorectal surgery and urology
- A multi-specialty approach to urinary
incontinence and pelvic floor disorders, with emphasis on neurology,
gastroenterology, physical therapy, patient education, occupational
therapy and research.
- Training that emphasizes evaluation, treatment
and continuing care for a wide range of urogynecologic, gynecologic
and pelvic floor dysfunction patients
- Classes in research design and statistics
- Conferences and continuing medical education
in advanced pelvic surgery and urogynecology
- Optional computer instruction in graphics,
word processing and communications
