Program Description
The Adult Neurology Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix/Scottsdale,
Arizona is a subspecialty-focused training program. Subspecialty
neurologists in behavioral neurology, cerebrovascular diseases,
clinical neurophysiology, epilepsy, headache, movement disorders,
multiple sclerosis, peripheral nerve disorders and neuromuscular
diseases serve the ongoing needs of a large local population, as
well as an extensive national and international referral network.
As a three-campus national practice, Mayo Clinic has a highly integrated
working relationship with the Mayo Clinic neurology programs in
Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla.,
and Scottsdale, Ariz.
Mayo Clinic in Arizona enjoys the advantages of a large metropolitan
area with expertise in pediatric neurology and neuropathology offered
to our residents through Barrow Neurological Institute.
The four-year Adult Neurology Residency Program at Mayo Clinic

- Extensive didactic curriculum in each year of
residency in clinical neurology, clinical neurophysiology and
basic neurosciences.
- Comprehensive and ongoing evaluation of resident
performance including resident teaching competency, clinical examinations,
objective structured clinical and competency examinations and
mock board examinations.
Accreditation
The Adult Neurology Residency Program is fully accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Certification
Mayo Clinic's Adult Neurology Residency program is certified
by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and leads to certification
in neurology.
Program History
The Adult Neurology Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in
Arizona accepted its first three residents in 2004, who will graduate
in 2008. After that time, it is anticipated that three residents
will complete this program annually.
