Program Description
Mayo Clinic's one-year Movement Disorders Fellowship Program offers a rich clinical and research experience, including:

  • The diagnosis and treatment of the full spectrum of movement disorders, such as:
    -Parkinson's disease
    -Huntington's disease
    -Dystonia
    -Tremor
    -Myoclonus
    -tic disturbances
    -Gait disturbances
    -Chorea
    -Tardive dyskinesia
    -Other disorders of the basal ganglia
  • Research opportunities in neuroepidemiology, neurophysiology, immunohistochemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, basic neuroscience, clinical treatment trials and genetics
  • Training in movement disorders neurophysiology and the therapeutic administration of botulinum toxin for dystonia, hemifacial spasm and related disorders

Your fellowship experience will be busy and rewarding, with ample opportunity to observe and investigate all aspects of movement disorders.

The research portion of the fellowship is focused on understanding and applying findings to patient treatment.

A second year of fellowship may be considered depending on your clinical and research interests and long-term career goals.

Program History
The Movement Disorders Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester began in 1993. Since that time, approximately 11 fellows have completed their training in this program. Going forward, it is anticipated that one fellow will complete this program annually.
