Program Description
The Epilepsy Fellowship Program provides additional advanced training in epilepsy and electroencephalography (EEG) beyond what is provided in a one-year clinical neurophysiology (CNP) fellowship.

Applicants for the one-year Epilepsy Fellowship must have completed neurology residency, as well as at least one year of an accredited CNP fellowship in EEG or EEG/epilepsy at Mayo Clinic or another accredited institution.

The program is designed for those who wish to acquire advanced knowledge and skills in the comprehensive management of patients with epilepsy and its related disorders. During the fellowship you will become proficient in:

  • Interpreting EEGs of patients with epilepsy.
  • Supervising prolonged video EEG recordings.
  • Coordinating special studies.
  • Performing surgical monitoring.
  • Conducting clinical research.
  • Teaching other residents and fellows.

The fellowship may include up to 50% research time for those fellows that wish to devote considerable time to research projects; alternatively, more time may be spent in the Epilepsy Clinic and Epilepsy Monitoring Unit to gain clinical experience.

Program History
The Epilepsy Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester was established in 1999. Since that time, several fellows have completed their training in this program.
