Program Description
Mayo Clinic in Rochester offers a one-year fellowship in Autoimmune Neurology.
This fellowship is designed to train academic neurologists in the emerging 21st century subspecialty of autoimmune neurology. The entire spectrum of neurological disorders recognized as autoimmune in nature comprises both idiopathic and paraneoplastic entities, and intersects all traditional neurology subspecialties:
- Movement disturbances
- Epilepsy
- Behavioral
- Neuromuscular
- Autonomic
- Demyelinating
- Neuro-oncologic
- “Degenerative” disorders
By providing an opportunity to participate in cutting-edge development and translational activities, the Autoimmune Neurology Fellowship ideally complements sub-specialization in neuromuscular, CNS demyelinating, PNS/autonomic, behavioral, movement or seizure disorders, neuro-oncology or pediatric neurology.
You will participate in interdisciplinary conferences at Mayo Clinic and nationally. There will be abundant opportunities for translational research and for manuscript preparation and potential for second year with greater research emphasis

Program History
The Autoimmune Neurology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester accepted its first trainee in 2005 to complete training in 2006. Going forward, it is anticipated that one fellow will complete this program annually.
