Program Description

Mayo Clinic in Rochester offers a Neuroanesthesiology Fellowship Program designed to provide you with the skill and expertise necessary to handle complex intraoperative and perioperative neuroanesthetic problems.

Your responsibilities will include patient management and supervision within the neurosurgical operating rooms, neuroradiology suite, postanesthetic recovery room and the neurosurgical intensive care unit.

You will gain experience in sophisticated cardiovascular and neurologic monitoring techniques, including transesophageal echocardiography and intraoperative brain and spinal cord monitoring. Fellows also complete rotations with neurologists, learning the fundamentals of brain and spinal cord monitoring and their applications during the perioperative period. They also work with cardiologists to acquire skills in transesophageal echocardiography.

This subspecialty fellowship prepares you to evaluate pertinent literature, develop and conduct an original clinical or basic science research project and present such work.
