Program Description
Mayo Clinic offers a one-year ACGME-accredited Cardiovascular Pathology Fellowship Program during which you will learn to understand and diagnose routine, complex and esoteric pathologic specimens relating to cardiovascular conditions and diseases.

Your fellowship experience will include the interpretation of tissues related to:

  • Congenital heart disease
  • Ischemic heart disease
  • Valvular heart disease
  • Cardiomyopathy and myocarditis
  • Systemic and pulmonary hypertension
  • Neoplastic heart disease
  • Cardiovascular trauma
  • Pericardial disease
  • Aortic disease
  • Peripheral vascular disease
  • Diseases of the veins and lymphatics
  • Cardiac transplantation

This flexible fellowship includes diagnostic, research, and educational experiences in cardiovascular pathology.

You also will participate in a variety of clinical and pathology conferences.

Program History
The Cardiovascular Pathology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester was established in 1981 and since that time, six trainees have completed their training in this program. Going forward, it is anticipated that one fellow will complete this program annually
