Program Description
The Immunodermatology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester combines formal course work in immunology with practical experience in laboratory methods and management. You will have the opportunity to study special immunological and molecular probe procedures (e.g., immunoelectrophoresis, immunodiffusion and gene rearrangement assay) during specific laboratory rotations.
This fellowship provides you with direct, hands-on experience in Mayo Clinic's immunodermatology laboratory and basic and applied immunology laboratories. The program can be customized to fit your specific career needs.
You will develop competence in many special areas of tissue examination, including:
- Immunofluorescence and immunoperoxidase studies
- Immunophenotyping studies
- Molecular genetics
- Special immunological techniques
Although you might not be responsible for direct patient care during this fellowship, you will gain clinical experience by participating in the clinical and didactic activities of the Department of Dermatology.
