Program Description
The three-year Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville offers:

  • Preparation for a career in hematology/medical oncology in an academic or group practice setting.
  • Experience with the multidisciplinary approaches to patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders.
  • Research options in hematology, oncology or basic science.
  • Opportunities to teach Mayo Medical School students, visiting students from other medical schools and internal medicine residents.

As a Mayo Clinic fellow, you will have access to a training experience that is both broad and highly specialized. The program is designed to effectively prepare you for a successful career in hematology/oncology.

Accreditation
The training program fulfills the requirements for training as stated by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Certification
You will be eligible to take the American Board of Internal Medicine’s subspecialty examination in hematology and medical oncology upon completion of the fellowship.

Program History
The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship began in 1996, and since that time, more than five physicians have completed training. It is anticipated that two fellows will complete training in this program annually.
