 It’s a great time to be practicing family medicine at Mayo Clinic Florida. We have just opened our new hospital which has amazing state-of-the-art equipment. Our community-based family medicine center adjoins the hospital for easy access and continuity. We are excited about the future of family medicine and constantly instill innovation into our residency and practice. Family medicine is not only an integral part of Mayo Clinic but we see it as the foundation of the entire health care system. Mayo provides access to the technology that all future family physicians will encounter and need to stay competitive.
Our program is centered on resident education. We have a didactic lecture curriculum that teaches the entire spectrum of family medicine. All of our residents are blocked for an entire afternoon every 2 weeks specifically for learning and board preparation. We also have procedure seminars that are focused on teaching you all of the necessary skills to successfully join a group practice or confidently embark on a solo practice.
We have a strong group of dedicated faculty who love to teach. Many of our faculty are nationally-recognized for teaching and often travel across the country to train other physicians. Our residents are a talented, cohesive group of individuals who bring life to our program. Along with our chief resident, they learn to lead morning report, hospital rounds and journal club. They confidently provide medical care to our local community, backed with the knowledge that they have access to experts in virtually all medical specialty areas.
