Clinical Training
You will gain significant experience with outpatient continuity
of care at the Mayo Clinic Family Medicine centers by providing
care for your own group of patients throughout the three-year program.
As a first-year resident, you will attend the clinic one half-day
a week. As a second-year resident, that will increase to two or
three half-days a week. During your third year, you will attend
three to five half-days a week. You will receive on-site supervision
and teaching from the family medicine faculty.

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville has a formal affiliation for teaching
and research with Nemours Children's Clinic. Part of your training
in caring for children will occur under the direction of more than
60 general and specialized pediatricians at Nemours.
Didactic Training
Clinical conferences, seminars, small discussion groups, journal
clubs and one-on-one instruction are integral parts of the program.
Research Training
You are encouraged, but not required, to participate in a research
project with the consulting staff during your residency. You may
choose a clinical study or a laboratory-based project.
Evaluation
To ensure that residents acquire adequate knowledge and develop
technical skills, performance is monitored carefully during the
course of the program. Residents are evaluated formally by supervising
faculty member after each clinical rotation. In addition, residents
regularly evaluate the faculty to ensure that educational needs
are being met.
