RESIDENCY OVERVIEW
The primary goal of the Mayo Clinic Emergency Medicine
Residency Program is to provide you with the training,
resources and experience to become a superior emergency
medicine physician. We aim to train leaders in Emergency
Medicine, capable of providing the highest-quality care
and advancing the specialty. Regardless of whether you
pursue an academic, community or rural setting in which
to practice, you will have the skills required to make
a positive impact and to succeed.
The three-year program offers:
- Comprehensive preparation in emergency
medicine
- A high-activity primary training site with
more than 80,000 visits per year
- A participatory EMS experience
- A diverse patient population
- A busy trauma experience in which residents
are integrally involved in all resuscitations
Accreditation
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program is fully accredited
by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education
(ACGME).
Program History
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Mayo Clinic in Rochester was approved in 1999. Since that time, 40 residents have completed training in the program. In 2006, the residency began matching 8 residents yearly.
