The College of Medicine at Mayo Clinic Diversity Statement

Purpose
To promote research in health disparities, Mayo Clinic’s Initiative for Minority Student Diversity (IMSD) program funds students to participate in the Clinical Research Training Program. The overall goal of the NIH-funded IMSD program is to increase the numbers of under-represented diverse faculty, investigators and students engaged in biomedical research, and to broaden the opportunities for under-represented diverse faculty and students for participation in biomedical research. Eligible students must apply for IMSD funding first, then apply separately to the CRTP program once funding is secured. The IMSD funding for CRTP participation includes a stipend, tuition waiver and professional development opportunities.

Mayo is focused on addressing the extreme shortage of clinical investigators and researchers from diverse populations. Recipients of the award receive in-depth preparation in clinical research theory and methods along with a mentored research experience. The program consists of a carefully planned series of courses to provide you systematic training in clinical research methods that complement your mentor-based research training.
