Program Description
The three-year Dermatology Residency Program (PGY-2 through PGY-4) at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville offers:
- Extensive clinical training in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the skin,hair, nails and mucous membranes
- Intensive didactic training and the opportunity to conduct clinical research
- A patient mix offering experience with both routine general dermatology cases and unusual skin disorders, ensuring strong training in diagnostics
This residency program will prepare you for a career in private practice or academic medicine. Your training will include:
- Inpatient and outpatient dermatology
- Dermatologic surgery
- Dermatopathology
- Clinical research
- Elective rotations at Mayo Clinic in Rochester - 1 month
- Pediatric dermatology– Longitudinal community experience. And required rotation to Mayo Clinic Arizona (1 month in 2nd and 3rd year).
- STDs, HIV/AIDS through the Duval County Healthy Department.
Accreditation
The training program fulfills the requirements for training as stated by the American Board of Dermatology and is accredited by Residency Review Committee for Dermatology of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
Certification
You will be eligible to take the American Board of Dermatology examination upon completion of the residency.
Program History
The Dermatology Residency at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville began in 2000, and since that time, fourteen physicians have completed training. It is anticipated that two residents will complete training in this program annually.
