Program Description
The KL2 Mentored Career Development Program at Mayo Clinic is a two- to five-year program funded by the Mayo Clinic Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA). The program leads to a postdoctoral master's degree in clinical research and a successful career as an independent clinician investigator. Mayo Clinic is actively recruiting a diverse team of research scholars representing leading-edge and varied clinical research disciplines for this program.
The KL2 program combines didactic course work and a mentored research experience to produce leaders of multidisciplinary research teams that will advance the biological and technological discoveries into the best practices of disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment in the 21st century.
The KL2 program provides a personalized didactic program designed to meet the needs of future research leaders, protected time and other resources to enable clinical research scholars to accomplish a structured practical research experience. All KL2 participants conduct a multidisciplinary clinical research project under the guidance of a well-established Mayo Clinic senior investigator.
Some scholars who successfully complete the program will be awarded a Master's Degree in Clinical and Translational Science. You will be prepared to apply for future extramural research grants as an independent investigator and to pursue an academic career in clinical research.
