Program Description
The Advanced Vascular Medicine Fellowship will develop competency in the evaluation and treatment of peripheral and cerebral vascular disease and the appropriate use of noninvasive and invasive assessment of these problems.
The fellowship will follow these objectives:
- To understand the mechanisms of and the management of lymphedema
- To understand the mechanisms and appropriate therapy and investigation of deep venous thrombosis
- To understand the evaluation and management of coronary artery disease in association with peripheral vascular disease
- To understand the investigation and management of peripheral arterial disease in the setting of atherosclerosis
Your training program can be customized to meet your individual career goals. You will work closely with a highly experienced and knowledgeable clinical and research faculty.

Accreditation
The training program fulfills the requirements for vascular medicine subspecialty training as stated by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Graduate Medical Education.
Certification
When you complete this training, you will be eligible for the American Board of Internal Medicine subspecialty examination in vascular cardiology medicine.
Program History
The Cardiology, Vascular Medicine Fellowship began in 1995, and since that time, more than 9 physicians have completed training. It is anticipated that between one and two fellows will complete training in this program annually.
