An abundance of cultural diversity and historic tradition fuels the rich variety of arts and entertainment options in Jacksonville, Fla. The city offers theater, galleries and museums, music, zoological gardens, and shopping.

Like many Florida cities, Jacksonville welcomes visitors and residents with five-star restaurants, resorts and other leisure activities. The city is home to numerous museums and art galleries, a symphony orchestra, and a variety of theaters and nightclubs that showcase national and regional talent.

The nationally famous Jacksonville Jazz Festival is held each year in Metropolitan Park, and the renowned Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition is held annually at Jacksonville's Florida Theatre. Shopping enthusiasts will find a wide range of retail options that includes trendy upscale boutiques, major department stores and outlet malls.

Jacksonville's geographical location puts it close to many cultural, historic and entertainment centers in Florida and Georgia. Elegant Savannah, Ga., and exotic Amelia Island, Fla., lie to the north, while historic St. Augustine, Fla., the oldest city in the U.S. and home of the World Golf Village, lies to the south.

Just 2.5 hours away is Orlando, Fla., where you'll find the Disney theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios) as well as Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, LegoLand and SeaWorld Orlando.

Tampa Bay, Fla., is about 3.5 hours from Jacksonville and is home to Busch Gardens. Miami is about six hours away, and the Florida Keys are about seven hours away.
