Gary C. Sieck, Ph.D.Biomedical Engineering at Mayo Graduate School is an interdisciplinary program that encourages bridge building across departmental boundaries. Graduate students with engineering and physical science backgrounds are trained in and connected to basic and applied biomedical science. Biomedical engineering has a long and distinguished tradition at Mayo Clinic.

Our exceptional educational and research environment allows Ph.D. students to carry out fundamental basic and translational research in four areas of concentration: biomedical imaging, biomechanics, molecular biophysics and physiology. Our biomedical engineering faculty, with more than 40 members, comprises internationally recognized scientists employing state-of-the-art techniques in well-equipped laboratories.

Graduates of the Biomedical Engineering Program at Mayo are uniquely prepared to apply engineering concepts, technology and quantitative methods to problems in physiology and medicine.
