Tuition and Financial Aid

Students who have successfully obtained a bachelor's degree prior to entering the program and have completed all prerequisite courses are eligible for the certificate-only option. All other students will obtain a bachelor's degree through affiliate schools listed below.

Bachelor of Science in Health Professions (BSHP) option

A Bachelor of Science in Health Professions degree is offered by the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR). Students enrolled in the BSHP option pay tuition and apply for financial aid through UMR. Information about tuition, fees and financial aid for students interested in the BSHP option is available on the UMR website.

Certificate and bachelor's degree options

Students enrolled in the bachelor's degree option at Minot State University (MSU), Mount Marty College (MMC), St. Cloud State University (SCSU), Saint Mary's University (SMU) or University of Mary (UMary) pay tuition directly to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences, while financial aid is handled by their home universities. Certificate-option and University of Sioux Falls (USF) students pay tuition and apply for financial aid through Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences.

The Mayo Clinic tuition rate for 2017-2018 is $511 per credit, with an expected increase for the second year of the program. There are 62 credits in the program. Total tuition for the 21-month program is estimated at $31,682. Students pay their tuition directly to Mayo Clinic School of Health Sciences in five installments, one per semester.

Students are assessed a $225-per-semester technology fee, or $900 for the five semesters (this fee is not assessed for the summer semester). Students are supplied a laptop computer issued and supported by Mayo Clinic for their studies.

The estimated tuition and fees for the full program is $32,582.

Other mandatory expenses

  • $200 (estimated) — uniforms
  • $200 — radiography examination end of last semester (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)

In addition, once a year students are required to travel at their own expense to an educational campus in Minnesota to participate in the Minnesota Society of Radiologic Technologists' Student Knowledge Bowl. Carpooling is encouraged.

For certificate-option students and students enrolled in the MSU, MMC, SCSU, SMU, UMary, or USF bachelor's degree option, the total estimated cost of attendance is below. BSHP students must contact UMR for their total estimated cost of attendance.

Living expenses

Students are responsible for their living accommodations and transportation. Living expenses such as transportation, housing and meals are not paid to the school. However, these expenses are considered for purposes of processing financial aid, where applicable.

Withdrawal and tuition refund

UMR students who find it necessary to withdraw from the program may be eligible for a tuition refund. Contact UMR for information about its tuition refund policy.
