Positions

Two fellows are accepted on a competitive basis each year for the Cardiology Nurse Practitioner Fellowship at Mayo Clinic's campus in Arizona.

How to apply

The program begins the end of September.

Your application and all supporting documentation must be received by Jan. 15.

  1. Online application. Complete the online Application for Admission. After you create an account in ApplyYourself, sign in and select Application for Admission (not Lite Application). A nonrefundable $50 application fee is payable by credit card via the online application.
  2. Supporting documentation. Submit these materials:

    • Official transcripts from a baccalaureate nursing and master's or doctorate NP program sent directly from the nursing schools (unofficial copies sent from the schools may be submitted, if the program is not completed at the time of application)
    • Copy of your current RN license and verification of license eligibility in the state of Arizona prior to the start of the fellowship in September
    • Copy of a current NP license or temporary license eligibility in the state of Arizona prior to the start of the fellowship in September
    • Verification of board certification or eligibility as an adult-gerontology acute care specialty nurse practitioner prior to the start of the fellowship
    • Copy of current Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification
    • Current curriculum vitae (using the online application system)
    • Three letters of recommendation (using the online application system) referred by clinical preceptors or mentors who have worked closely with you in cardiovascular areas
    • Statement of your professional goals in your essay in the online application
    • Statement of intent (maximum of 300 words) describing:
      • Your past cardiovascular experiences
      • How the fellowship will further develop your career goals in a cardiovascular field
    • Send any required materials that are not submitted online directly to:

  3. Interviews. The selection committee carefully reviews each application. Individuals considered for an appointment may complete a phone interview, although an in-person interview is strongly encouraged to meet the faculty and tour the facilities.
  4. Acceptance. Appointment letters are mailed approximately two weeks after the interviews. If you receive an appointment letter, your reply is expected within 10 days.
