Mayo Clinic's Rochester campus has more medical and research space in one location than any place else in the country — 11.5 million square feet.
Patient care activity in downtown Rochester is centered around the Mayo and Gonda buildings, the Richard O. Jacobson Building, and Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus, all of which are connected by pedestrian subways and skyways. These facilities make up the core of Mayo Clinic's downtown clinical practice facilities.
Richard O. Jacobson Building
The recently completed Jacobson Building houses the proton beam therapy facility on Mayo Clinic's Rochester campus. It was named in honor of Richard O. Jacobson, a generous donor and Mayo Clinic patient.
Mayo Clinic Hospital, Saint Marys Campus
Located several blocks west of downtown, the Saint Marys campus of Mayo Clinic Hospital provides essential clinical and inpatient care education experiences for students and trainees.
Research and education areas
Guggenheim, Stabile, Medical Sciences and Siebens buildings
Students also attend classes and conduct laboratory research in these facilities. Within the Stabile Building is a state-of-the-art anatomy laboratory and the 10,000-square-foot Multidisciplinary Simulation Center, where health care professionals and trainees from multiple disciplines improve performance and reduce errors through comprehensive medical care simulation training.
The Siebens Building houses the Venables Health Sciences Library, classrooms, computer labs, study areas and administrative offices.
This historic building houses Mayo Clinic's medical library system, one of the largest in the world, containing around 400,000 bound volumes and 4,800 medical and scientific journal subscriptions. Access to extensive online medical database resources is readily available.
Mitchell Student Center
This building offers a Learning Resource Center, including a library and a computer lab, and the Great Hall, which affords a comfortable, quiet study environment.
