The two-year Urologic Oncology Fellowship provides major clinical emphasis in all aspects of urologic oncologic surgery. During the first year, each fellow has the opportunity to perform basic science, clinical and outcomes research. The second year of the fellowship is dedicated to clinical training. The program can be tailored to reflect each fellow's individual clinical and research interests and requirements.
The primary goal of the fellowship is for graduates to obtain an academic position in urology after completing this training program.
The Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic is accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology.
The Urologic Oncology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., began in 1986. Since then, more than 25 physicians have completed the fellowship. As of 2012, this fellowship has two positions available annually.
