The Center for Congenital Heart Disease at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, includes the divisions of Pediatric Cardiology, Adult Congenital Heart Disease and Congenital Heart Surgery. Ten pediatric cardiologists, seven adult congenital cardiologists and three cardiovascular surgeons staff the center. All faculty members have academic appointments in Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and teach and supervise medical students, residents and fellows at Mayo Clinic.
Mayo Clinic's Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine includes more than 100 pediatric and adolescent physicians specializing in more than 40 areas and providing care ranging from routine checkups to complex surgical procedures.
Annually, Mayo Clinic treats more than 50,000 children and adolescents, including 5,000 hospital patients. Also, each year:
- Approximately 3,800 patients are seen in the outpatient pediatric cardiology clinic
- Surgeons perform more than 400 congenital heart operations at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester
- More than 5,000 echocardiographic procedures and more than 300 cardiac catheterization procedures are performed at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester
