The Department of Ophthalmology at Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, provides services for more than 110,000 outpatient visits each year. The state-of-the-art facilities at Mayo Clinic expose the fellow to cutting-edge procedures and equipment.
Mayo Clinic's faculty members are committed to teaching and facilitating the growth of medical knowledge. Nearly all of the department's ophthalmic subspecialists have published and lectured extensively and all are well-regarded in their fields. Each fellow has direct access to these individuals throughout his or her time in the Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Fellowship.
The Department of Ophthalmology has 29 staff members on the Rochester campus, including three Ph.D. researchers. The Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Service has five full-time faculty and 24 additional subspecialists in all fields of ophthalmology. In addition, 12 ophthalmology residents and several fellows are either in clinical or research training at Mayo Clinic.
