Program description

Mayo Clinic's campus in Rochester, Minnesota, offers a three-year Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship for physicians who wish to specialize in the field of high-risk obstetrics.

Our fellowship offers:

  • Extensive exposure to the management of medical, surgical and obstetrical problems associated with pregnancy
  • The opportunity to acquire the factual knowledge and medical and procedural skills to identify, evaluate and treat the entire spectrum of disorders affecting the mother and her developing child
  • Preparation for subspecialty certification and a successful career in academic medicine


Mayo Clinic's Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship meets the requirements of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.


When you successfully complete the Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship, you will be eligible to take the subspecialty certification examination in Maternal-Fetal Medicine offered by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Program history

The Maternal Fetal Medicine Fellowship began in 2006. Since that time, several fellows have completed the program, which accepts one new fellow annually.
