Program description

The Neurologic Surgery Residency at Mayo Clinic's campus in Jacksonville, Florida, is a seven-year program of advanced education in all aspects of neurosurgery. Through this program, residents can achieve the highest caliber of clinical excellence, have opportunities for research and develop an academic career tailored to their career goals.

As a Neurologic Surgery resident, you participate in the Mayo Model of Care for all neurosurgery patients as an integral member of the neurosurgical team, always maintaining Mayo Clinic's primary value: The needs of the patient come first.

Residents spend a minimum of 42 months in clinical neurosurgery throughout the program. There is sufficient elective time for residents to participate in research projects, prepare for an academic career or acquire extra subspecialty clinical expertise.


The Neurologic Surgery Residency at Mayo Clinic's campus in Florida is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.


When you successfully complete the Neurologic Surgery Residency, you will be eligible to take the oral exam offered by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.
