Advisers and mentors
Every resident is assigned faculty advisers who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. The advisers serve as personal mentors throughout the residency. We also have a mentor-mentee program that allows established residents to assist incoming residents with transitioning to Rochester and Mayo Clinic.
The Department of Internal Medicine invites scores of academic faculty members to visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work at medical grand rounds and other conferences, as well as participate in hospital rounds. In addition, internal medicine residents host a visiting professor of their choice annually. Residents are encouraged to take full advantage of these learning opportunities.
