Geriatric medicine specialists at Mayo Clinic in Arizona work within the Department of Internal Medicine. As a fellow in the Geriatric Medicine Fellowship, your primary home will be within the Division of Community Internal Medicine, where all aspects of elder health care needs are managed with an emphasis on care coordination. Mayo Clinic in Arizona also has geriatric medicine specialists within the divisions of Hospital Internal Medicine and Hematology/Oncology who further enhance the exposure and learning opportunities of fellows.
Each faculty member is committed to patient care, research and education in his or her daily practice. Faculty members in this fellowship provide daily one-on-one educational opportunities and are available to give advice and assistance.
The program director will assist you in choosing a faculty adviser who can provide comprehensive educational advice and personal support. Your adviser will serve as your contact point, introducing you and your family to Arizona and the Mayo Clinic system.
Many prominent professors visit Mayo Clinic each year. They present their work during lectures, and participate in hospital rounds and informal discussions with fellows. You will be encouraged to take full advantage of these opportunities.
