Application Process


There are three positions available in the Cardiovascular and Thoracic Anesthesiology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., each year on a competitive basis.

How to apply

Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education does not process printed applications to this program. To apply, you need to use the third party application service, ApplyYourself.

In addition to the standard application materials required by Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education, this fellowship requires the following additional supporting materials to be submitted with your online application:

  • Copies of your American Board of Anesthesiology-American Society of Anesthesiology (ABA-ASA) in-training examination scores
  • Copies of your United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) scores, preferably all three steps
  • Letters of recommendation from anesthesiology residency faculty (typically three)

Applications for each academic year, which begins in July, should be completed by March 31 of the year prior to the anticipated start of fellowship. (In other words, complete applications should be received at least 15 months prior to the desired fellowship start date.)

If you are considered for an appointment, you will be asked to visit Mayo Clinic in Minnesota for an interview. Interviews are usually conducted from March to May of the year prior to the start of the fellowship.
