Since 1917, Mayo Clinic has been preparing candidates for M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in biomedical sciences. For over 25 years, Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences has been training students in scholarship and scientific discovery as an independent degree-granting school. Currently, more than 100 students are working toward master's degrees and over 200 are working toward doctoral degrees. Six students are admitted each year into the combined M.D. and Ph.D. degree program.
Mayo Clinic School of Medicine matriculated its first class in 1972.
