Mayo Clinic Libraries is dedicated to meeting the information
needs of Mayo Clinic employees, students, and patients. The Mayo libraries comprise
one of the most comprehensive medical library systems in North
America. Mayo Clinic’s medical practice, biomedical research and
education activities are served by this system, encompassing
three practice sites and the Mayo Health System across five states.
Information services, in-depth library research assistance, expert
literature research, electronic document delivery, and online training
services help library users access and effectively use traditional
and digital resources. These assets include 5,000 current journal titles,
hundreds of databases, electronic books, and other tools.
Although Mayo Clinic maintains a private library system, visiting students and health care professionals are most welcome to use the traditional and electronic collections on-site. Specialized libraries serving hospitalized
patients and their families, consumer health libraries, and special collections and archives related to the
history of medicine and the history of Mayo Clinic are also available. Every effort is made to provide access
to unique materials through various interlibrary loan networks accessible from most medical, specialty, university, and public libraries. Visiting students and health care professionals must register at the service desk of the library they are visiting.
