Research Fellowship Program
Application deadline: February 10
Program dates: 8-10 week program starting on May 27 or June 2, 2008
The 8-10-week Research Fellowship matches medical students between year one and two with Mayo Clinic investigators based on their research interests. For many years the specific and unique health needs of minority populations in the U.S. have been inadequately studied. One reason for this is the extreme shortage of clinical investigators from minority groups. Although progress has been made toward increasing the number of minority clinicians, little, if any, increase in the number of clinical investigators has occurred. Mayo Clinic offers a comprehensive training program for patient-oriented research. In addition to their research project, students attend a series of seminars and presentations that introduce them to clinical research methods.
