Membership

The Mayo Clinic Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) was created to provide an academic home for clinical and translational research at Mayo. Membership in the Mayo Clinic CTSA augments the career path of scientists and clinicians engaged in research. All members hold primary appointments in established clinical and basic science departments with a secondary appointment in the CTSA.

Criteria for full membership:

  • Demonstrated participation in clinical/translational research (e.g., principal investigator on an R01 or equivalent foundation-funded grant)
  • Demonstrated track record of teaching and/or mentoring
  • Demonstrated long-term career in clinical/translational research
  • Academic rank of professor or associate professor

Criteria for associate membership (at least one of the following):

  • Priority access to limited resources
  • Focused career development advice from a pool of senior mentors
  • Mentoring support for KL2 trainees, CTS graduate students and SURF students
  • Ability to apply for the Technology Access Fund
  • Ability to participate in interest group retreats
  • Priority registration in CTSA workshops
  • Academic recognition awards
  • Letter of support for promotion applications

For all Mayo investigators (regardless of CTSA membership status), CTSA will strive to:

  • Facilitate clinical research for all potential investigators in the Mayo community (students, residents, fellows, clinicians, scientists and nurses)
  • Identify and eliminate or reduce barriers to clinical research
  • Develop mechanisms to drive both intramural and extramural collaboration, as well as collaboration with CTSAs from across the country
  • Create mechanisms to foster collaboration with industry
  • Provide information regarding extramural funding opportunities
  • Develop new competitive intramural funding opportunities
