Two New KL2 Scholars Join the CTSA
Yuan Ji, Ph.D., and Ann Vincent, M.B.B.S., M.D., have joined the Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) as 2010 KL2 Mentored Career Development Program scholars.
With protected research time and a paid postdoctoral masters program ahead, Drs. Ji and Vincent join a diverse group of scholars seeking to establish independent translational research careers. While unique in their research interests, the scholars share a common desire to make contributions that improve health and/or health care delivery.
Conducting basic research and then searching for ways to translate those findings into bedside applications "convinced me that I could make significant contributions at the bedside using my laboratory-based work knowledge and skills," says Dr. Ji.
David Mrazek, M.D., and Daniel Schaid, Ph.D., will serve as Dr. Ji's mentors; Michael Joyner, M.D., and Debra Barton, Ph.D., will be Dr. Vincent's mentors. Both scholars commenced their funded research on July 1.
The KL2 Mentored Career Development Program at Mayo Clinic is a two- to five-year research program funded by the CTSA. It is designed to guide individuals toward independent clinical research careers.
Letters of intent are due August 16 for the 2011 KL2 Program. Email CTSA Education Resources for more information, or visit the KL2 admissions Web page.
