The Scholarly Opportunity Award is a competitive intramural grant created to address the research interests of Mayo Clinic physicians who do not already receive substantial Mayo or extramural funding. The program began in 2008 and is supported by the Mayo Clinic Research Committee through funds from the Department of Development. Awards are distributed across the three Mayo campuses in proportion to the FTE at each site, and provide up to $30,000 annually for up to two years to support direct costs. If fully justified, up to 20 percent Category I dedicated research time is also available for each award.
