There are many tools that support the research and writing process. Being familiar with these tools can simplify and streamline research and writing by helping you find, organize and manage information. These modules are designed to help you identify, and become familiar with, tools available for authors and researchers.

"PubMed and MyNCBI"

  • Finding and managing literature is crucial to a successful research program. After this module, you will be familiar with the basic navigation of PubMed. You will know how to use MyNCBI to manage your bibliography for National Institutes of Health grants and manage your literature searches, including creating automatic alerts for new literature related to your area of interest. "Web of Science and Scopus: Impact Factor, h-index and Citation Alert"

  • Identifying newly published research and tracking and quantifying research impact is beneficial to authors and research programs. After this module, you will be familiar with the basic navigation and personal account features of Web of Science and Scopus.

    You will know how to use Web of Science and Scopus to find literature that cites an article of interest, create automatic alerts for new article citations, and locate and interpret the h-index of an author. You will also know how to find journal impact factors. No CME credit is available.

"EndNote"

  • EndNote is a bibliographic reference manager. When you write scholarly papers, it's expected that you will cite the relevant literature to support the premise(s) of your paper. With EndNote, you can manage those specific references for your paper and insert them from EndNote into your paper. No CME credit is available.

  • Mayo Clinic Libraries has a wealth of resources and offers many services to help all Mayo employees.
