"The Promise of Epigenomics in Medical Research and Future Practice"
Epigenomics is the study of all the changes in gene function that occur without a change in the sequence of the DNA, known as epigenetic changes. At the completion of this module, learners will be able to define and explain the history of epigenetics and epigenomics. They will identify how these mechanisms underlie the regulation of gene expression. They will be able to describe how DNA modification occurs; for example, the role of chromatin dynamics.
Learners will be able to explain how epigenetics and epigenomics contribute to inheritance and human diseases. Finally, learners will be able to discuss the use of epigenetics and epigenomics in diagnostics and therapeutics. No CME credit is available.
