Research Management Programs Committee

The Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) Research Management Programs Committee oversees all aspects of program administration for the CTSA's research management programs.

These include the Clinical Research Coordination (CRC) Program — with its Associate in Applied Science (AAS) Degree Track and Diploma Track — as well as professional development programs in clinical and translational research for multidisciplinary research teams, which include many courses that grant American Medical Association Physician's Recognition Award (AMA PRA) Category 1 Credit or continuing education units.

Responsibilities include:

CRC Program (Associate Degree Track and Diploma Track)

  • Developing and implementing all aspects of program administration for the CRC Program's Associate Degree Track and Diploma Track in close collaboration with Mayo School of Health Sciences (MSHS) and Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC)
  • Developing criteria for recruitment, selection and matriculation of degree and diploma candidates
  • Tracking and reporting the academic progress of each candidate through program completion
  • Tracking and reporting the placement of graduates

Professional development

  • Coordinating clinical and translational research-related professional development opportunities for all members of the research team, from study coordinators to investigators
  • Conducting an ongoing assessment of current and future needs for clinical and translational research professional development
  • Applying new technologies to meet professional development needs

All programs

  • Identifying curricular needs of the Associate Degree Track and Diploma Track in clinical research coordination and collaborating with the CTSA Curriculum Subcommittee to develop and implement the curriculum
  • Evaluating the Associate Degree Track and Diploma Track in clinical research coordination and practical research experiences, including the program processes and graduate outcomes
  • Developing a recruitment and communications plan with support from the CTSA Education Resources communications consultant

The CTSA Research Management Programs Committee meets the first Monday of each month and reports to the CTSA Education Resources Executive Committee. It provides representation on the Curriculum Subcommittee, and the chair of this committee is a member of the CTSA Education Resources Executive Committee. This committee also works in collaboration with MSHS and RCTC.
