Postdoctoral Programs Committee

The Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) Postdoctoral Programs Committee oversees all operational aspects of program administration of the KL2 Mentored Career Development Program, the Postdoctoral Master's Degree Program and the Postdoctoral Certificate Program.

Responsibilities include:

Admissions

  • Developing, implementing and evaluating the selection criteria and admissions process for the three programs in alignment with Mayo Graduate School
  • Reviewing and approving master's degree scholars' research protocols, thesis advisory committees and individual degree programs
  • Reviewing and approving research protocols for KL2 and certificate scholars
  • Providing scientific review of and approving all scholars' protocols
  • Tracking and reporting the academic progress of each scholar through program completion, including GPA audit reports and oversight of the Comprehensive Written Examination
  • Providing final review of theses, manuscripts and grant applications for all scholars

Curriculum

  • Identifying curricular needs of each program and coordinating with the CTSA Curriculum Subcommittee to develop and implement the curriculum
  • Identifying concentrations within the Postdoctoral Master's Degree Program
  • Developing an online Postdoctoral Certificate Program

Executive

  • Developing a recruitment and communications plan with support from the CTSA Education Resources communications specialist
  • Participating in the development and design of the evaluation activities of the three postdoctoral programs, including program processes and scholar outcomes

The committee meets the third Thursday of each month and reports to the CTSA Education Resources Executive Committee. It has representation on the Curriculum Subcommittee, and its chair sits on the CTSA Education Resources Executive Committee. This committee works in collaboration with Mayo Medical School, Mayo School of Graduate Medical Education and Mayo Graduate School.
