Curriculum Subcommittee

The Center for Translational Science Activities (CTSA) Curriculum Subcommittee oversees all aspects of curriculum for the CTSA's educational programs, including the predoctoral, postdoctoral, clinical research coordination and professional development programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and implementing the curriculum for all CTSA clinical and translational research education and career development programs, which includes reviewing course content, structure, quality and frequency to ensure they meet CTSA education goals
  • Interacting with, reporting to and following the policies of the appropriate school within the College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic, which accredits the course work for the corresponding program
  • Using a course evaluation process — designed with input from the CTSA Evaluation Subcommittee — to provide feedback and assess curricular effectiveness, and then reporting the results to the faculty and the CTSA Evaluation Subcommittee
  • Working collaboratively with each CTSA program to assess curricular needs
  • Identifying appropriate faculty and assisting them in developing curricula
  • Overseeing the annual curricular schedule and classroom assignments
  • Identifying needed curricular resources, including technologies, classrooms and personnel
  • Reviewing and evaluating curricular components with regard to their respective core competencies
  • Reviewing the process for and results of the Comprehensive Written Examination

The CTSA Curriculum Subcommittee meets the first Monday of each month and reports to the CTSA Education Resources Executive Committee. It works collaboratively with the CTSA's Postdoctoral Programs Committee, Predoctoral Programs Committee and Research Management Programs Committee.
