Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) Practice-Based Research Networks (PBRNs)
AHRQ was designated by Congress in 1999 to "serve as the principal source of funding for primary care research in the Department of Health and Human Services." AHRQ maintains a PBRN website, the goals of which include providing PRBN news, information about research, links to other sites, resources, mechanisms for collaboration and a quarterly newsletter. Specifics include a research portal, funding opportunities, a peer group series, tool kits and more.
Of particular interest may be:
- A bibliography — an online database of PBRN literature.
- Quarterly newsletters — these highlight current and upcoming events, and information about tools and resources.
- AHRQ PBRN Resource Center — in 2002, AHRQ established the Practice-Based Research Network Resource Center (PBRN RC), expanding its mission in 2004 to provide resources and assistance to all registered primary care PBRNs engaged in clinical and health services research. The PBRN RC provides support to registered PBRNs through consultative services, informational resources, group learning experiences and research tools. The center is a collaborative effort between the University of Minnesota and Westat.
