Planning a Visiting Faculty Program
Steps to planning your Regional Visiting Faculty Program through
Mayo School of Continuing Medical Education in Rochester, Minn.
:
- Identify your audience.
To help us better serve the needs of your group, first identify
the types of medical professionals who will attend the program
(e.g. physicians, nurses, students, single-specialty, multi-specialty,
etc.).
- Choose a topic.
The Regional Visiting Faculty Program offers presentations on
a broad range of medical, surgical, scientific and health care
administration topics. Once you have determined your program topic,
we will assist in identifying a Mayo Clinic subject expert. We
can also help you determine the most appropriate topic for your
audience.
- Choose a format.
The Mayo Regional Visiting Faculty program formats are flexible
to meet your needs and include:
- Lectures
- Case discussions
- Hospital rounds
- Panel discussions
- Seminars
- Conferences
- Other formats attractive to adult learners
We will confirm the format feasibility with the faculty member
and work with you to provide the optimum learning experience.
- Identify your on-site program coordinator.
Your on-site program coordinator is a member of your staff who
will serve as the liaison between your committee or department
and Mayo School of Continuing Medical Education.
Program coordinators help set dates, determine topic(s), reserve
rooms, plan meals, distribute announcements and manage registration.
