Learning Objectives
Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:
- Explain simple and advanced techniques for complex wound closure that can be performed by a general surgeon.
- Discuss controversies surrounding benign breast diseases and provide straight forward management strategies.
- Discuss obstetric and gynecologic procedures for the general surgeon.
- Review current data supporting use of mesh in repair of small umbilical hernias.
- Discuss differences in weight loss outcomes among sleeve gastrectomy, adjustable gastric banding, and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
- Discuss the indications for and benefits of surgical rib fixation in trauma patients.
- Familiarize the attendees in the recognition and management of Merkel cell carcinoma.
