Robotic Surgery in Gynecology Series

The Robotic Surgery in Gynecology Series is a one-day intensive program designed to familiarize physicians on the applications of robotics in gynecologic surgery through didactic presentations, videos and live surgeries. The program, intended for practicing gynecologists, robotic surgeons, laparoscopic surgeons, urogynecologists, and gynecologic oncologists, is held at Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.
This course has limited enrollment. Participants will have the opportunity to observe two live robotic surgeries. Didactives and video presentations will be presented between cases and provide opportunities for one-on-one interaction with faculty.
Mayo Clinic Robotic Surgery in Gynecology Series will be offered 4 times throughout 2009. (April 10th, May 12th, September 1st and November 11th.)

The 18th Annual Urogynecology and Disorders of the Female Pelvic Floor General Session returns as a three-day course, presenting the latest in treatment for urogynecology and female pelvic floor disorders. It is designed for gynecologic and urologic surgeons, allied health staff, and medical practitioners with an interest in the current treatments for pelvic floor dysfunction, surgical management of urinary and fecal incontinence, overactive bladder, and repair of pelvic organ prolapse. The course offers didactic lectures, live surgery video transmissions of advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, surgical case presentations and panel discussions. The format also includes use of the interactive keypad system, which provides immediate feedback, providing an optimal learning experience for question interaction between the speaker and course participants. This course is held at the Scottsdale Marriott at McDowell Mountains, Scottsdale Arizona - September 10-12, 2009.
Optional Mini-Course: Core Lectures in Female Urology and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction - The one-day optional mini-course emphasizes core education in female urology and pelvic floor dysfunction. Anatony, pathophysiology, evaluation, and management of urinary incontinence are reviewed in detail. Please note the mini-course will be held in the Ashton B. Taylor Auditorium at Mayo Clinic's Scottsdale Campus. Pre-registration is required for the September 9, 2009 mini-course.

Practical Surgical Pathology

Echocardiography for the Sonographer

Genomics in Everyday Medical Practice

This course, intended for primary care providers, genetic counselors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses, offers a broad array of lecture topics beginning with a review of basic genomics and progressing to clinical applications. The practice of medicine is increasingly becoming dependent on understanding the genomic basis of diseases and treatment effects. Advanced Radiology Life Support (ARLS)

The Advanced Radiology Life Support (ARLS) course is designed to focus on the unique, life-threatening emergencies that occur within a radiology department. It is designed to teach prompt recognition and treatment of contrast reactions. The ARLS course will discuss management of the sedated patient, the proper management of an airway in an emergency situation and percutaneous interventions. Basic concepts of advanced life support will also be reviewed. This course is fashioned after the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) course that has been successful in teaching physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel patient management during cardiac arrest. This course will also offer self assessment modules for recertification purposes required by the American Board of Radiology.

This quarterly symposium, entitled Prehospital Cardiovascular, Stroke and Critical Care Updates is a one-day intensive program designed to provide current EMS case studies of STEMI, stroke, resuscitation, special topics and infrequent skills/calls. The program, intended for paramedics, is a forum for providers of all levels to interact and provide a medium for strengthening the continuous quality improvement (CQI) process. The course will involve six different sessions throughout the day, including lecture, skills and observation. The content of these sessions apply towards mandatory and flexible core content. Each session will be held on Mayo Clinic Hospital Campus and the course confirmation email will denote actual location on campus.
